Dear Friends,

An update on the work here in Texas is long overdue.  First let me say thank you for your prayers and financial support.  The work here is speeding up at almost too fast levels.  It looks like we will start meeting on Sunday nights beginning January 7th with an eye to having our first worship service Easter Sunday evening.  Why at night you may ask?  Well a few months ago I started talking with a local Lutheran Pastor about using their facility in the evenings because it is pretty much the only building downtown available to us.  They graciously agreed and gave it to us for a super low price of $725.00 per month.  They are interested in promoting the cause of the gospel even as they put it, “if it has to be through Presbyterians.”  Also they are planning on moving out of the downtown area north of town about 5 miles in the next three years and talks are already in progress about selling their facility to us.   To those of you who may have been part of a church plant before you know how huge it is to be able to just walk into a building and NOT set up chairs, cart in your own nursery stuff, sound equipment, etc. . . and then take it all down again.

Anticipation is high among the core group and their friends and family and hopefully among others we don’t know for the start of this new church.   Our second public meeting as Church is coming up at the end of November during Denton’s Holiday Lighting Festival.  Each Christmas they have a big Christmas Tree lighting, and the downtown merchants have a friendly competition to see who can make the best Christmas Wassle.  We will be handing out Christmas cookies in the midst of the merchants Wasslefest with the purpose of just participating in the festivities and loving on the community.  There will be no evangelistic sleeper cells in the crowd or tracts baked into the cookies.  On the heels of that event we will have a Lessons and Carols service on the evening of December 10th at the Lutheran Church.  Please pray for both of these events that they would honor God and give us opportunities to serve one another and the community of Denton.

On the family front we are in a holding pattern.  A few weeks ago Angela was involved in two car accidents within a week.  The first was minor but the second totaled our van and broke Sam’s (our second son) nose and cheekbone.  Neither accident was her fault.  Needless to say our 2000 Chevy Astro Van with 170,000 miles on it was worth more alive than dead.  So we are currently a one truck family.  If you know anybody who has a large van (8-12 passenger) or a Suburban type vehicle that they want to get rid of for cheap please have them contact us at david@dentonpres.org    On that note the committee that oversees me has given me permission to raise funds to help buy a new vehicle for our family if you have an interest in giving to this “project” please send a contribution to the address below and earmark it for “Wilson Vehicle”, thank you. Short of that everyone is fine, we had a blast trick or treating this past Halloween a first for all of my kids.  Calvin was shy at first but once he understood the true meaning of Halloween-FREE CANDY!! the game was on.

Financially we are still in need and about half way to where we need to be so if you are thinking about year end giving please keep us in mind.  Gifts can be sent Mission to North America, Attn: Denton Presbyterian Plant Project, 1700 N. Brown Road, Suite 101    Lawrenceville, GA  30043-8143

Grace and Peace,
